Helen Clark was born in Hamilton in 1950. Her father is a farmer, and mother is a teacher. She studied politics in the University of Auckland and gained master's degree. She is the first woman who was elected as a prime minister in the New Zealand.

She is the first woman who became an administer of the United Nations Development Programme. She has married, but not same family name with husband.
